What You Can—and Cannot—Put on the Blockchain

Because content on the blockchain is public and permanent, we maintain strict guidelines to protect privacy, safety, and the integrity of the platform.

Why These Rules Exist

When you put something on the Bitcoin blockchain, it stays there forever. It cannot be edited, deleted, or taken down—not by us, not by you, not by anyone. This permanence is the whole point of ChainMoments, but it also means we must be exceptionally careful about what gets recorded.

These guidelines protect you from accidentally publishing personal information, protect others from harm and harassment, and ensure ChainMoments remains a safe, meaningful space for preserving life’s precious moments.

Personal Information

Any data that could identify, contact, or locate a real person.

Prohibited Content

  • ×Full names (first and last name combinations)
  • ×Email addresses
  • ×Phone numbers (mobile or landline)
  • ×Physical addresses (home, work, or mailing)
  • ×Social security numbers, passport numbers, or national ID numbers
  • ×Date of birth combined with other identifying information
  • ×IP addresses or device identifiers
  • ×Financial account numbers (bank accounts, credit cards)
  • ×Medical records or health insurance numbers
  • ×Geolocation coordinates that identify private residences

Why This Matters

The blockchain is permanent and publicly searchable. Personal information cannot be removed and poses serious privacy and security risks including identity theft, stalking, doxxing, and harassment.

Links & URLs

Web addresses, domain names, or references to external online resources.

Prohibited Content

  • ×HTTP/HTTPS URLs to any website
  • ×Domain names (e.g., example.com)
  • ×Shortened URLs (bit.ly, tinyurl, etc.)
  • ×Email addresses formatted as links
  • ×Deep links to apps or services
  • ×References to websites by name with clear intent to direct traffic
  • ×Referral or affiliate links

Why This Matters

Links can become broken, lead to malicious content, facilitate spam, or be used for commercial exploitation. The blockchain should preserve ideas and moments, not serve as an advertising or phishing platform.

Encrypted or Obfuscated Content

Content intentionally hidden, encoded, or made unreadable to humans.

Prohibited Content

  • ×Base64, hex, or other encoded strings meant to hide meaning
  • ×Encrypted messages or ciphertext
  • ×Steganographic content (hidden messages within apparent content)
  • ×Content using character substitution to evade moderation (e.g., “h@te” for “hate”)
  • ×Binary data, hex dumps, or machine code
  • ×Private keys, seed phrases, or cryptographic secrets
  • ×Messages in constructed or fictional languages designed to obscure meaning
  • ×Zalgo text or unicode abuse to make content unreadable
  • ×Content deliberately split across multiple transactions to hide context
  • ×Morse code, ROT13, or similar simple ciphers used to evade review

Why This Matters

All content must be human-readable and reviewable by our moderation team. Encrypted or obfuscated content prevents us from ensuring compliance with this policy and may hide prohibited material.

Hateful & Discriminatory Content

Content that attacks, demeans, or dehumanizes individuals or groups.

Prohibited Content

  • ×Slurs, epithets, or derogatory terms targeting protected characteristics
  • ×Content promoting hatred based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or age
  • ×Holocaust denial or genocide denial
  • ×White supremacist, Nazi, or extremist symbols and slogans
  • ×Content advocating for segregation or discrimination
  • ×Dehumanizing language or comparisons (e.g., referring to groups as animals, vermin, or diseases)
  • ×Content celebrating violence or suffering of specific groups
  • ×Dog whistles or coded language commonly used by hate groups

Why This Matters

ChainMoments is designed to preserve meaningful moments and positive memories. Hateful content causes real harm, creates hostile environments, and has no place in permanent public records.

Harassment & Abuse

Content intended to intimidate, threaten, or cause distress to others.

Prohibited Content

  • ×Direct threats of violence or physical harm
  • ×Wishes or calls for death, serious illness, or injury
  • ×Content intended to intimidate or silence others
  • ×Coordinated harassment campaigns or brigading
  • ×Doxxing (revealing private information to encourage harassment)
  • ×Sexual harassment or unwanted sexual advances
  • ×Content celebrating or encouraging self-harm or suicide
  • ×Repeated unwanted contact or attention
  • ×Impersonation intended to harm or deceive
  • ×Sharing intimate images/details without consent (revenge porn)
  • ×Blackmail, extortion, or coercive threats

Why This Matters

The permanent nature of the blockchain amplifies the harm of harassment. Once recorded, threatening or abusive content cannot be removed and continues to traumatize victims indefinitely.

Sexual Content

Explicit sexual material or content sexualizing minors.

Prohibited Content

  • ×Pornographic content or explicit sexual descriptions
  • ×Nudity or sexually explicit imagery (described or encoded)
  • ×Sexual services, solicitation, or prostitution
  • ×Any content sexualizing minors (real or fictional)
  • ×Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind
  • ×Grooming language or content that preys on minors
  • ×Sexual content involving non-consenting individuals
  • ×Bestiality or zoophilia content
  • ×Graphic sexual violence or rape fantasies
  • ×Unsolicited sexual content directed at others

Why This Matters

ChainMoments is designed for all ages and must maintain a safe, appropriate environment. Sexual content, especially involving minors, violates laws in most jurisdictions and causes severe harm.

Violence & Dangerous Activities

Content promoting, glorifying, or instructing harmful activities.

Prohibited Content

  • ×Graphic descriptions of violence, gore, or death
  • ×Instructions for creating weapons, explosives, or dangerous devices
  • ×Glorification of mass shootings, terrorism, or violent attacks
  • ×Content promoting or recruiting for terrorist organizations
  • ×Instructions or encouragement for self-harm or suicide
  • ×Dangerous challenges or stunts that could cause injury
  • ×Animal cruelty or abuse
  • ×Instructions for making illegal drugs or poisons
  • ×Content celebrating or encouraging physical violence
  • ×Detailed descriptions of torture methods
  • ×Content promoting eating disorders or dangerous weight loss methods

Why This Matters

The permanence of blockchain content means instructions or encouragement for dangerous activities remain accessible indefinitely, potentially causing ongoing harm and legal liability.

Illegal Activities

Content facilitating, promoting, or documenting illegal actions.

Prohibited Content

  • ×Sale or distribution of illegal drugs or controlled substances
  • ×Human trafficking or exploitation
  • ×Money laundering or financial fraud schemes
  • ×Instructions for hacking, cracking, or unauthorized access
  • ×Stolen data, credentials, or leaked private information
  • ×Counterfeit goods or currency
  • ×Illegal gambling operations
  • ×Tax evasion or fraud schemes
  • ×Identity theft or document forgery instructions
  • ×Piracy or copyright infringement
  • ×Insider trading or securities fraud
  • ×Illegal wildlife trade or poaching
  • ×Bribery, corruption, or illegal lobbying
  • ×Violation of international sanctions

Why This Matters

We must comply with international law and regulations. Facilitating illegal activities creates legal liability and undermines the legitimate uses of blockchain technology.

Scams & Fraud

Deceptive content designed to trick, defraud, or exploit others.

Prohibited Content

  • ×Phishing attempts or social engineering attacks
  • ×Ponzi schemes or pyramid schemes
  • ×Get-rich-quick scams or guaranteed investment returns
  • ×Fake giveaways or “double your crypto” schemes
  • ×Impersonation of brands, celebrities, or officials for financial gain
  • ×Advance-fee fraud (419 scams, inheritance scams)
  • ×Romance scams or catfishing for money
  • ×Fake charity solicitations
  • ×Misleading health claims or miracle cures
  • ×Pump-and-dump schemes for cryptocurrencies or securities
  • ×Employment scams or work-from-home fraud
  • ×Contest or sweepstakes fraud

Why This Matters

Scams permanently recorded on the blockchain can lend false legitimacy to fraudulent schemes and continue to deceive people indefinitely. We protect users from exploitation.

Misinformation & Manipulation

Deliberately false or misleading content designed to deceive.

Prohibited Content

  • ×Coordinated inauthentic behavior or astroturfing
  • ×False claims about election results or voting processes
  • ×Dangerous health misinformation (false cures, anti-vaccine propaganda)
  • ×Manipulated media presented as authentic (deepfakes without disclosure)
  • ×False emergency warnings or crisis hoaxes
  • ×Impersonation intended to mislead or deceive
  • ×False accusations of serious crimes
  • ×Content manipulated to create false context or meaning

Why This Matters

While we support free expression, deliberately false content permanently recorded on the blockchain can cause ongoing harm, undermine trust in information, and potentially endanger lives.

Intellectual Property Violations

Content that infringes on others' creative or commercial rights.

Prohibited Content

  • ×Copyrighted text, lyrics, or literary works reproduced without permission
  • ×Trademarked brand names, slogans, or logos used without authorization
  • ×Patented inventions or proprietary methods disclosed without rights
  • ×Trade secrets or confidential business information
  • ×Plagiarized content passed off as original
  • ×Unauthorized reproduction of artwork or creative works
  • ×Bootleg or pirated media descriptions or identifiers
  • ×Unauthorized use of celebrity names or likenesses for commercial purposes
  • ×Brand impersonation or trademark infringement
  • ×Violation of licensing agreements or terms of service

Why This Matters

We respect intellectual property rights. Infringing content creates legal liability and is unfair to creators. If you don't own it or have permission, don't post it.

Additional Guidelines

Quality Matters

While brief, your message should be meaningful and coherent. Avoid random characters, test messages, or content lacking genuine intent.

Language Requirements

Content must be in a human language using standard characters. We support all major languages but require readability by our moderation team.

Context Matters

Edge cases are reviewed individually. Our moderation team considers context, intent, and potential harm when making decisions.

Moderation Process

Every message is reviewed by a human moderator before being anchored to the blockchain. This typically takes less than 30 minutes (priority plans receive review within minutes).

If your message violates this policy, we will:

  1. Send you an email explaining which guideline was violated
  2. Provide you the opportunity to revise and resubmit your message
  3. Refund your payment if you choose not to revise

Repeated or egregious violations may result in permanent account suspension and reporting to law enforcement where legally required (such as CSAM, credible threats, or illegal activities).

Reporting Violations

If you discover content on the blockchain that violates this policy and was published through ChainMoments, please report it to us immediately.

Include the transaction ID, proof page URL, or certificate number if available. We will investigate all reports within 24 hours.

Important: While we cannot remove content from the blockchain itself, we can remove it from our website, proof pages, and certificates, and we will cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations.

When in Doubt, Ask First

Not sure if your message complies with this policy? Contact us before submitting. We’re happy to review edge cases and provide guidance.
